A LOOK INSIDE THE FILM
Fallen is a period drama set in Mont St Quentin in France during WW1. When a Captain tumbles into a trench with a serious bullet wound, Private Lockhart tends to the wound and distracts the Captain with conversation. As the two men reveal intimate details of their life back home in Australia they make a chance revelation that will change the course of their war.
Having written and directed a few period and war themed short films now, it is fair to say I find these stories captivating. I have been influenced by films such as The Railway Man (2013), Gallipoli (1981), Hacksaw Ridge (2016), Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Allied (2016) to name a few, that all deal with the tragedy of conflict. One attraction for creating films of this nature is that these events (such as WW1) are an effective catalyst for exploring human nature under extreme pressure in a unique and interesting way.
